I Had To Go

I'm going to miss my human mom. She took good care of me for 16 years but on May 24th, 2024, it was time for me to go. I had a massive seizure and my mom rushed me to the doggy doctor but there was nothing they could do. They wrapped me up in towels and put me on a couch next to my mom, with my head in her lap and she kept petting me right to the end. Some of the people who took care of me came and swapped stories about me with my mom. She talked about how much she loved me and was so happy I was part of her life. They said they loved me and would miss me, too.

Finally, I heard the doggy doctor say it was time so I looked up at my mom to say good-bye and to tell her I was ready and it was okay. I didn't want her to cry but she did. It didn't take long after that and now I'm off to the Rainbow Bridge where I will wait for her for as long as it takes. I've already found the other dogs she loved and we will play together until she gets here.

This is one of the last photos my mom took of me. I was losing my eyesight and she got me a halo harness.

Look! My mom made more coloring books about me! And they match up with the books she did about me, too! She says maybe kids will see I'm not scary and want to play with dogs of their own and she says people like her human son, who has something called Down syndrome, can learn I feel lots of the same things they feel do 'cuz the books and coloring books show how excited or scared or happy or sad I can get sometimes.

Look! My mom made a coloring book out of my story!

My Check Up

At my last checkup the vet said I lost weight. Here's me on the scale.

bObi

My mom got a bObi. It's not very nice.

Sometimes it tries to take my toys. It tried to climb on my paws and nip my tail. I had to tell it to STOP!

It goes where it's not supposed to. I watch it for mom.

It's a good thing it takes lots of naps!

I still don't like it very much.

It's Nice to Lie in the Sun

We've had lots and lots of rain. Too much rain. Today we had sunshine. I like to lie in the sunshine.

Christmas

My mom put up the tree. I put a toy under the tree so she would remember that's where presents go.

I don't think she understood because I look and look but no presents yet.

New Book

My mom did it again! She made a new book all about me! She says you can find it on something called Amazon for something called kindle and in paperback too!  Here's the cover. Don't I look pretty?

Doggy Camp

Guess what--my mom went on a trip and I went to doggy camp. My mom calls it doggy respite care, I guess 'cuz her son sometimes used to go to respite care.

I got to run and play and I even got a bath and look all pretty now!

Guess what--a book about me!

Guess what! My mom made a book about me. She says it's for her son who has something called Down Syndrome. I don't quite understand but she says it's like a human puppy who is all grown up but still like a puppy in lots of ways.

Anyway, it's got lots of pictures of ME! My mom says lots of human puppies might like it but it's 'specially for those who don't quite grow up like regular ones do. She says it's easier for them to relate to photographs than to drawings and everything is something they can relate to.

Like I said, I don't really understand but my mom says she made it 'cuz there aren't books her son likes to read but he likes to read this one and it's all about ME! And it kind of makes her cry to see him want to read and grin when he gets that I make messes, too, just like he sometimes does and I like to look under the tree for presents, just like he does and....

My mom says to tell you it's not 'cuz he knows me, either, that he likes the book. He used to be mad at me 'cuz I get to live with mom and he is in a group home near his dad but now he likes me! He laughs now when mom tells him things I do and it's all 'cuz he likes the book and can see I'm like him in lots of ways and sometimes have a hard time, too.

Guarding Against Bunnies

LuLLu and LoLLy have an excellent article about Doga or doggy yoga. But I get my exercise guarding against bunnies. There's one that likes to hang out outside this window. I think it knows I can't get out this way. But I bark lots whenever I see it and this morning I chased a bunny right out of the back yard!

My Mom is Back!

My mom is back from her trip! I've been running around a lot to make up for the time I spent in a kennel. (We won't talk about that. I lost my squeaky bear there but they gave me a new toy to make up for it.)

My mom's daughter is gone. I hope she comes back soon. Meanwhile....I'm spending lots of time with my new squeaky toy perched on my mom's lap so she can't escape again any time soon....

New Toy and Suitcases

Guess what! My mom felt so bad about me getting shots that she got me a new toy! It's a fish that squeaks.

Now the only problem is that she's got out the suitcases again. I don't think that's a good sign....

Seeing the Vet

My mom took me to the vet this week and I got poked and prodded in places I don't like anyone touching! And then they stuck me with needles. Needles! I licked and licked the faces of the vet and his helpers and they STILL stuck me with needles!

My mom says it's a good thing to do and that she needs to know I'm healthy and that she's taking good care of me but she's not the one who was getting poked and prodded and stuck with needles! And if it's so good for me how come I was so tired the next day I didn't even have the energy to chase rabbits?????

I'm okay today and I even got to try to go see a cat on someone's lawn. My mom stopped me but at least I had the energy to try! And when I saw the rabbits today I know that if my mom had let me, I could have caught them.

Still, it's a darn good thing I don't have to go back to the vet's office for a good long time. Hmmph!

My Battle Scar

My mom kind of freaked when she saw my battle scar right below my left eye.

I'm not telling her what I tangled with but I won!

July 4th and LuLu and LoLLy

LuLu and LoLLy put my pictures up on their blog! See, they blogged about going to work with your human and it inspired me to help my mom work, too. And they have some good tips about July 4th. I'm kind of nervous about July 4th 'cuz fireworks scare me but my mom promised she would keep me safe so maybe it will be okay.

Destroyed Toy

My mom took away one of my favorite toys just because I did this to it....

Come and Gone

My mom's daughter came back and then they were really busy putting stuff in boxes. I tried to help but they wouldn't let me. Now she's gone again. I've been squeaking my squeaky bear a lot. Sometimes my mom lets me sit on her lap and squeak it and that helps, too.
